so nervous about next semester/the future in general. but it’s also really exciting having no fucking clue about anything ? like I genuinely have no idea what I’ll be doing or where I’ll be or what people I’ll be surrounded by in just a couple year’s time. I could be studying over in fucking Spain or living in an apartment with my best friend, or quit school and travel the country, or anything. probably the most prominent difference between high school and college i’ve noticed is that life speeds up so quickly, and big decisions start coming at you seemingly out of the blue and hitting you like a ton of bricks, when just a year ago I hardly had anything at all I urgently needed to worry about. life is crazy

“Yeah, but that is the thing about literature and music. You use it as a way of defining yourself. You use it as an extension of your character. Somebody else’s words writing your thoughts. And I think everybody who relates to music is kind of isolated. It’s lonely. Everyone who uses the creative side of their brain is that much removed from reality. They are looking for answers wherever they can find them.”

I definitely should be worrying about finals all next week but instead I’m thinking about what book I should pick up next from the library. I might read The Lovely Bones next, anyone read it/have any opinions?

“The fact that you have a fancy college degree doesn’t mean you have to immediately use it.
The fact that you’re blue-haired and tattooed and pierced doesn’t mean that you’ll never be able to get a job.
Managing to make it through college does not validate you as a human being.
Forcing yourself to waste away in the one thing you believe you’re good at does not make for a full and happy life.
You don’t have to fit a mold.
You don’t need another person to complete you.
You don’t need dates and parties and wild nights at the bar to prove to everyone that you’re worth being around.
You don’t need someone to hold your hand every moment of every day.
And you don’t need to spend your time and energy obsessing over these things.
Because, at the end of the day, you are the one who has to live with the person you are. If you are proud of what you’re doing with your life, nothing should stop you from carrying on.
You are not obligated to meet anyone’s standards, ever.
Find happiness. Keep it.
And don’t let anyone ever tell you that what you’re doing isn’t good enough.
Because it is. It really is.”
